I’m Kavya Kalur, an actor, model, and potter based in Chennai, originally from Bengaluru. My journey bridges two seemingly opposite worlds — aerospace engineering and the performing arts. After several years in the aerospace industry, I made the leap in 2022 to pursue a life driven by creativity and storytelling.
I found my way into acting through the transformative world of theatre, and since then, I’ve explored modelling, film, and more recently, ceramic art. I’ve trained intensively in acting — at the CATT Intensive in Greece, earned a Diploma from Actor Prepares in Mumbai, and further refined my craft at LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art).
Outside of acting, I’ve explored many forms of movement and expression — from Bharatanatyam, Yakshagana, and healthcare clowning, to kickboxing and action choreography. Each of these practices has helped me develop a grounded, present, and emotionally connected performance style.
In 2023, I received the Best Actress award at the IFH Short Film Festival, and I continue to work across Indian theatre and film.
My creative journey also led me to pottery — a deeply meditative and tactile practice that keeps me grounded. Working with clay helps me slow down and reconnect with the moment, offering a quiet counterbalance to the energy of performance.
At the heart of everything I do — whether on stage, on camera, or at the wheel — is the belief that storytelling, in all its forms, can move us, connect us, and transform us.
